Request for Rare Questions

It's the time of year when I get to ask, "Have you seen my RAQ?"

The Rarely Asked Questions is my birthday tradition at The Bathroom Monologues. The internet is full of Frequently Asked Questions, and few too many rhetorical questions, but enough rare questions. Until Monday night, September 2nd, I'm requesting all readers leave questions they don't normally ask anyone. They can be questions about me, my writing, or anything entirely unrelated. Consider:

-If you were trapped in an elevator with Alexander Dumas, what is the last of his books you'd want to talk about?

-What's the boiling point of Tungsten?

-What happens if you try to mummify a Romeroian zombie?

What you don't normally ask anyone else is entirely up to you, but please ask it of me. I'll compile every question and answer at least one per person on September 4th - my birthday.

That's how I celebrate. With my big RAQ.

Please leave your mysteries and queries in the Comments section of this post.

  1. I love this, but need to go away and think about it. The questions I rarely ask are the dull ones (where did you go to school, what is your job and the like). And I don't ask them because I don't care. However, your offer is very generous. I hope to be back with an appropriate question for your stash.

  2. Is it your birthday-or is this just in preparation for the big day? I have a question for you-how old is the earth?

    1. Technically that first is a rarely asked question, too, but I'll answer here: my birthday isn't until September 4th. This is all preparation.

  3. If Jesus Christ played Dynasty Warriors, who would he play as?

Follow-up: Could he defeat Lu Bu at Hu Lao Gate?

    1. I'm going to allow this as a two-part question. It's important to be thorough about Jesus Christ and Dynasty Warriors.

  4. If using normal bayronic matter accelerated to 0.2C, how hard would I have to hit Mars to initiate a self-stabilizing magnetic field?

  5. The Greek description of the sky is 'bronze' for it shone as bronze. If there were no color adjectives or understanding how would you describe the sky? Blood? The ocean after a storm?

  6. What a unique celebratory tradition! I'll think on it and come up with something worthy of the occasion:)

  7. I know everyone likes to ask funny questions, but I'm not a very funny person, so...what book has had the biggest emotional impact on you? Whether it made you actually cry or laugh or love (despite your granite heart) or whether it changed you in some profound way or gave you hope or spurred you on...whatever your definition of "emotional impact" is, I'll take it.

    1. This is going to be difficult. Theoretically, because there are such different impacts books can have. Pragmatically, because I can't think of any book I've read in many years that actually had a profound impact on my life beyond how I enjoyed other books or arts. A challenge!

  8. When do you sleep?

That's not something I would normally ask anyone I've never met in real life and haven't known IRL for at least several months, but seriously, it seems like you're always either on-line or just been on-line every time I check in. And I have horrible sleeping habits and a phone with an unlimited data plan. I always imagine you taking a number of power naps, like Thomas Edison claimed to do.

  9. How do you stop your worm from slipping down the plughole when you wash it in the sink? (worms are covered in dirt!)

  10. I was going to ask you something off-color, but I see Helen has already taken care of that. :-D

Here's the question: You're in your writing spot. You look out the window (if you don't have one, pretend). What do you see?

  11. If you could have written any story or novel by someone else, which would it be?

Alternately, if you could sing like anyone, who would it be?

  12. Think about your skills, talents, quirks...everything. If you were a computer software, what would be your function in someone's computer?

  13. How would you define yourself as a D&D character? I'm talking class (or multi-class), race, alignment, stats.

If that doesn't appeal, how about using GURPS? How many points would you have? Stats, advantages, disadvantages, quirks?
