  1. Brilliant John! What a fun twist. Loved it!

(I think you meant "This is my FLOCK" instead of "flick" though)

  2. Oh that was freakin' adorable, not to mention slightly naughty.*Loved* it!

  3. Too funny! I can honestly say I never thought I'd see a wolf in sheep's clothing that actually liked being a sheep, not a hunter. And a hippo in sheep's clothing, complete with a face that says, "FACE"? Had me laughing out loud. Well done!

  4. That's AWESOME! Love that fractured fairy tale feel it has. I kept waiting for Sam the Sheepdog to show up and kick the stuffing out of lobo, a/k/a Ralph. :)

    Great piece.

  5. Awesome piece. Dialogue spot-on, and I almost choked on my coffee twice while reading. Peace...

  6. So so funny, particularly the piece of paper with "FACE" written on it. And a hippo. Fantastic.

  7. *laughs!* Okay, you had me at "bleating clouds" and the rest was great. And a hippo? Aw. So bizarre, so cute.

  8. Very funny piece all the way through. Nicely done.

  9. I love the name Lobo. Cute story. The hippo part was hilarious. I wonder if there were any actual sheep in that herd? Maybe it was a costume party and lobo wasn't invited.

  10. If that is the flock, I wonder what the shepherd looks like.
    I felt for poor Lobo.
    Loved the paper face.

  11. Freaking NUTS!! Very funny. I wonder if there are any actual sheep in that flock and whether the farmers on to any of them.

This was so much fun to read. Thanks, Wis-o.

  12. Yes. That is all I have to say. Please coerce someone into drawing this scene. I demand to see a hippo in sheep's clothing.

  13. The first paragraph may be one of my favorite passages in all of fiction.

  14. Whatever you're smoking, you need to share. THIS WAS AWESOME!

  15. Thanks Danni for catching my typo.

Gany, I'm glad you and Monsterbat liked it. What elements did you tone down for him? I guess the accurate name of "bitch" probably had to go.

Eric, that's what I'm here for. To ask the important questions, like what if a wolf in sheep's clothing liked it. I accept wolves of varying genders and personalities.

    J. Dane, you want a Sam the Sheepdog crossover? Maybe he can be in wolves' clothing.

Linda, what two things did you almost choke at? I have to ask.

Fullness, FACE is my favorite part, too. At first he was going to have a drawing of a face, but this is so much more ridiculous. Is it okay that I call you Fullness? That'd make a great halfback's nickname.

Jen, I wondered how that line would play.

Tim Van Sant, thanks for stopping by!

GP, like if Lobo's old wolf pack was doing the costume party and he didn't know because he'd quit?

Elaine, were you hoping they'd give Lobo a consolation sheep? Maybe a vegan take-away basket?

Monica, no, thank you for reading. I guarantee there are lots of real sheep in the flock. They're so nice that the bitch couldn't help but not eat them. Now she drinks protein shakes.

Tony, he's a good hippo. Named Augustine.

Valerie, are you volunteering? Anybody who would like to draw any of this is welcome to so long as they share it with the group!

Haha, Max. You like bleating clouds that much?

Cathy, I'm all natural. Never needed an excuse to be silly.

  16. Bahahaha! "Are you kidding me?" LOL!
    Fantastic! Really enjoyed this!

  17. I had no idea where this one was going. A hippo in sheep's clothing?! Oh the pictures in my brain are going to have me chuckling all day. hehe.

  18. Have you ever read a book by G.K.Chesterton called "The Man Who Was Thursday"? I think you might like it in the light of your fun tale, where no one is quite whom they seem...

  19. Brilliant little tale John, loved it!

I wonder what does she-wolf eats?

  20. Shannon, glad you liked it so much!

TS, his name is Augustine. He loves sheepskin.

Mr. Marc, I love Chesterton and his novel. It's brilliant satire and counter-satire all at once.

Mari, she eats trolls when she can catch them. Otherwise it's protein shakes.

  21. I want to see an elephant in sheep's clothing!

  22. Normally I don't take time to read #FridayFlash, but @marirandomities retweeted with much laughter, and I had to stop by. So glad I did! I can tell I'll checking back often :)

  23. The hippo with the "face" mask is the winner. How many actual sheep are in that flock? The games must be too much fun.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nice Black (sheep) comedy, the 'flock' off line was. Nicely timed.

  25. "The life of a lone wolf was sexy."

Started laughing there...the hippo "face" sign sealed the deal.

    oh man.
    :0)

  26. Excellent flash. Smart and fun! Thanks for the good read. :-)

  27. Hilarious romp in the sheep pen, with a hippo, too! Brilliant. :)

  28. A little naughty!
    Fun tho :)

  29. Are there any sheep in this flock? LoL. That was funny. Poor wolf.

You captured what I'd think of as the protocol for a wolf though.

    Very entertaining.

  30. This is just too funny! "FACE" just killed me. And "life of a lone wolf is sexy" was excellent.

Love this story, John. Love. :D

  31. I love the surprise of this story. I thought I knew where it was going and was happily proved wrong. Love your take on a cliche and how you put your own particular spin to it. A wolf in sheep's clothing indeed.

  32. He needs to go to the supermarket. It would be much easier to get a meal there. Delightful!

  33. So, were there any sheep in that flock?

The way your dialogue worked, I'm beginning to wonder if you are a wolf in man's clothing.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cute, I wonder if there are any real sheep in that flock.

  35. Imaginative and very funny. Loved the paper with FACE on it. This story goes totally where you don't expect. A very good thing.

  36. I'm with Icy on the elephant, and actually expecting one when you described the hippo's legs. Awesome story.

  37. I can't help feeling sorry for poor Lobo. All that courage branching out on his own and this is his reward? I hope he finds a less wolf and hippo infested flock in a field a little further away. Or a plump shepherd.
