  1. "Haunted Petting Zoo" What else could be better? More candy.

  2. Haha! Very good, John, Sadly, where we live, we don't get any trick-or-treaters, let alone a drunk man/zombie.

    1. I get zero trick-r-treaters here. It's soul-crushing.

  3. Having moved last winter from the country to the city, I'm stocking up for trick-or-treaters this year, thankfully my youngest son wants to hand out the candy.
This is a cool, interesting concept John. Love the Haunted Van idea!

  4. I regret now not buying Halloween decorations for our room. We could have randomly opened that hatchway that led into the hall and thrust a large, LED-spangled plastic skeleton at passers-by.

    1. How glorious trap-pranks out our hatch door would have been. I'd have stayed up later, to be sure.

  5. "Seek a better best friend." LOL

I never really liked Halloween growing up. It just isn't my fav. holiday. However, my daughter was born on Oct. 20, and she loves dressing up and going to our church's Fall Fest, and has sort of "owned" Halloween as "her" holiday because it usually occurs near her birthday. Seeing the holiday through her eyes has warmed me up to it.

Nov. 1st is my mom and sister's birthday... so that was always the far more fun day to me - as it meant fun non-creepy celebrations. And cake. Everything is better with cake.

  6. Hah! "The man on my lawn at 2am is drunk, not a zombie"--totally made me laugh!

  7. Really don't get horror or hallowe'en but loved this!

  8. Love it. Oct. 26th & 28th are my favorite. I NEVER overestimate the amount of candy I'll need. On purpose. ;)

  9. LOL, LOVED this!

That's one of the things I love about Ohio. When I lived in Florida, people weren't as in to Halloween. In Ohio, neighborhoods have different Halloween nights SCHEDULED so that the streets don't get clogged. Seriously, you could go trick-or-treating for the better part of a week, just by hopping neighborhoods!

Not that I would ever do such a thing. *looks nervous*

  10. Seek a better best friend is funny. I know this is fake though because there is no mention of the f#@%ing Christmas stuff that goes on sale in f#@%ing August. ;-)

  11. John, you have me hoping for Zombies on my lawn at 2:00 AM, drunks are a pain, zombies are gooooood!! :-)

  14. Best Halloween themed flash EVER!

Love the part about the 2am drunk isn't a zombie. NO DECAPITATION!

  15. This is great. I totally LOL'ed at the best friend part. Guess he didn't appreciate the best prank ever. The drunken zombie was pretty good too--hey, that's tonight. Better get my potato gun ready...

  16. Wow. I'm really enjoying your enthusiasm. I'm saving all my energy for Christmas.

  17. Sounds like the narrator needs to befriend my friend who leaves her Hallowe'en decorations up all year 'round, and then just puts up more for Hallowe'en itself. The neighbourhood kids have to dare each other to go up to her front porch, even though she always has good candy.

    Happy Hallowe'en!

  18. Oh so much laughs here! I lol-ed at this way too many times, it's a brill calendar, full of spirit and lovely humor. I love Halloween too, though it's a bit of different way of celebrating it here!

  19. Oh. My. God. This may be the greatest thing that has ever existed in the history of mankind. I can't even begin to describe how jaelous I am of all the Halloween activities you've done- especially since the fucking flu knocked me out of comission for the lasst weekend I might've even had a chance to do anything. I tried to make up for it by watching hours upon haour of Halloween specials on tv- everything from specail Halloween cooking shows to documentaries on home haunters. It's a small consolation, but I did what I could.

    1. Oh, I've done almost none of this. This is fiction, my friend. I was out of town for a week, and have been laid up with the syndrome for most of the rest of this month. But in spirit, I'm on board!
