"Simply Lost" at Calling Shotgun

This week my flash story "Simply Lost" was featured at Laurita Miller's Calling Shotgun. It won an Honorable Mention from her and Alan Davidson's Lost contest. Their challenge was to write something on the theme of being lost. Naturally, I wrote about the show Lost. Even though I thought the story was a little dreary, it won points for humor with the judges.

You can read "Simply Lost" at this link.

Some folks are having trouble leaving comments at Calling Shotgun. I've left this post open if you want to leave your thoughts here.

  1. I am one of those lowly folks who can't comment on most of blogger right now (your blog is a rare exception).

I agree with Laurita...it was a breath of frest air amongst all the most of the well-written, yet somewhat depressing stories.

I may have appreciated it more had I watched more than one episode of Lost (I could never figure out when or where it occured).

The final sentence came across as comedic to most, but I think I read it with more of a serious tone.

  3. As I noted over on Laurit's blog: You never know what thoughts will go through your mind in a situation like this, what things you would like to finish before you go. A nice jump at the end, John. I enjoyed this one.

  4. That made me laugh, especially as I watched all of Lost and said at the end duh what a let down..... This piece deserved that Honourable Mention!

    Nice piece John!
